While borrowing a lighter, he met Foyin, a monk practicing qigong. Their brief conversation offered him a sliver of solace.

Born in Nagasaki, Japan. He moved to Tokyo at the age of 21 to pursue acting, appearing in numerous stage plays, films, TV dramas, music videos, and commercials.
In 2020, he began his career as a director and producer.
In 2022, Matsumura directed and starred in Ano Toki, Nagasaki (That Time, Nagasaki), a film set in his hometown. Screened at the Nagasaki Prefectural Art Museum and in Shibuya, Tokyo, all screenings sold out. The film was officially recognized by the Mayor of Nagasaki as a “Nagasaki Revitalization Project” and received the Excellence Award at the Fukui Ekimae Short Film Festival.

The founder of the theater company ‘Machidax’ based in Machida City, and has gained experience in producing the reading play ‘Continuation of Family Correspondence’ (script: Megumi Okada, directed by Hitoshi Uyamana) and the music video for Takuya Kimura’s ‘Rolling Stone,’ among others. Actively involved in short film production, with screenings and awards at various domestic and international film festivals, including the Sanuki Film Festival, Ehime International Film Festival, and Yamagata International Movie Festival. Specializing in humorously expanding ordinary moments of everyday life, depicting a world that is surreal yet relatable.
