【STORY】
Hirofumi Watanabe, a film director who once won film awards at home and abroad and was hailed as “the Watanabe of the world,” is now struggling financially and struggling to make ends meet. One day, Watanabe is summoned to Tokyo by the mysterious film producer Yoko Maki and offered a job with an extraordinary salary.
The plan was to stay in a “scary house” that was rumored to be haunted for a week and film the experience. Dreaming of getting rich quick, Watanabe accepts Maki’s request and steps into the house. However, the house is not just a house with a bad reputation.
Gradually the horrifying past of the “scary house” comes to light and Watanabe becomes embroiled in unimaginable terror.
Why is this house called the “scary house”? And will Watanabe be able to escape safely?

He announced that the first Tochigi International Film Festival would be held in his hometown of Otawara, Tochigi Prefecture, and he himself will serve as festival director and programming director.
His latest directorial work, Scary House, was officially selected for the 27th Udine Far East Film Festival in 2025.
