Hirobumi Watanabe, festival director of the Tochigi International Film Festival, who also appears in this film as a cast member, will also appear on stage.

I heard that the Watanabe Brothers of Otawara Gutongsha were starting a film festival, and I was paying close attention, only to find out that it’s an international film festival! And it’s called the Tochigi International Film Festival! I’m surprised by the sudden scale of it all.
As one who runs a minimal film festival in Amami, I can only say that this is incredible, but watching everyone at the Tochigi International Film Festival makes me realize that creativity is also about creating a space. I’m honored to say that my film, “The Summer Days with Catfish,” which was filmed on location in Otawara, will be screened, and I’m looking forward to heading to the festival with the “The Summer Days with Catfish” team!

Congratulations on the establishment of the Tochigi International Film Festival. We are extremely honored that our film will be screened at this memorable first edition. The actors themselves planned and wrote the book to hone their individuality, and after intensive rehearsals with fellow actors who also worked hard to hone their skills, the film was shot in one go at a retro bar in a remote corner of Tokyo. The highlight of this film is the glimpse it offers of the cuteness and foolishness of human beings in this world. We hope you enjoy this serious comedy.
